UK Autodrive newsletter #1 #autonomousvehicles First vehicle trials completed

By 11th April 2016No Comments
The past few weeks have been extremely busy for the UK Autodrive team, with the first demonstration of our Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) technology at the HORIBA MIRA Proving Ground among the main highlights as we brought a successful close to the project’s first year.

The demonstrations involved connected cars supplied by Ford, Jaguar Land Rover and Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC) which were used to showcase two future car features working across the different makes of vehicle. The first feature showed how cars can be connected to traffic light information, in order to minimise red light stops, while the second feature showed how connected cars can receive early warnings when a car up ahead is braking heavily.

Jaguar Land Rover also used October’s event to demonstrate a Range Rover equipped with their Advanced Highway Assist technology. The vehicle was used to showcase hands-off, feet-off driving – including automated overtaking and blind spot detection.

To find out more about the October demonstrations and see a film of the event, check out this report on the UK Autodrive website.
