The motor of the electric car receives its power from a battery pack. The battery produces DC power, which gets translated into AC power via the induction motor. The vehicle includes an inverter to convert DC power to AC power.

Nonetheless, when adding up these electricity emissions, researchers have found that an electric car can lower greenhouse gas emission levels than a standard gasoline-powered vehicle. 

 

Manufacturing electric cars and producing batteries may lead to more carbon pollution than building a gasoline-powered automobile. Additional energy is required to make a car battery. 

 

However, over the lifetime of an electric car, total greenhouse gas emissions, including the charging, driving, and manufacturing of the vehicle, are lower than the total greenhouse gas emissions of a gasoline-powered automotive.

Are Electric Vehicles Going To Take Over?

BBC News reports that electric vehicles will take over sooner than you’d expect. Industry experts have noticed that EV sales are growing fast and are expected to surpass the sales of petrol and diesel automobiles.

 

For example, the automaker Jaguar is planning to sell only electric cars starting in 2025. Volvo is also planning to do the same by 2030. Furthermore, Lotus, a British sports car company, stated that it will sell only electric cars as of 2028.

 

The automaker VW is moving slightly slower but still claiming it will ensure 70 percent of its sales will be electric cars by 2030. General Motors plans to manufacture only electric vehicles by 2035. 

 

Today, government regulations push for more sustainable transportation in the fight against climate change, and more automakers plan to focus solely on EVs. With automakers focusing so closely on EV production, it is clear that electric cars are gearing towards a takeover of the automotive sector.
