Having had a modern multimedia player in my Porsche 996, when I bought my 996 turbo to replace it, I really missed it. Fair to say, a twenty year old Porsche sat nav was not much cop. I really liked the convenience of #applecarplay , but also wanted hands free blue tooth for the phone, in fact hands free texting as well.
My car was one of the earliest cars to have a canbus system, it also had a Bose amplifier. This did not make things easy, as it was not just plug and play. I had removed the stereo myself the week before to have a good nosey at what I needed, but a loom adapter to convert for a modern audio system. Some quick checks confirmed it did not work…… What to do.?????
Well I contacted Automobili Europe Ltd who were fairly local to me, had a good chat with Archie ( the owner) who confirmed why it would not work, and what was required. I booked it in with him, told him what I wanted, he recommended a Pioneer SPH DA-250 DAB system. This was an upgrade from the one in my previous car. I wanted it to be fitted so it looked stock, Archie quickly got to it. He removed my dash binnacle to use the Porsche Microphone housing for the new Microphone, ( no going up the A-Pillar and hanging from a sunvisor) and ran it through the existing holes.
Convertors fitted, some adaptations to the original harness, DAB aerial fitted using a convertor for the original Aerial, so need to drop the headlining to fit it.
A Cracking piece of kit, superbly fitted, I can honestly say that I am over the moon with it. The workmanship was outstanding, and that is what led to this little post. I am a firm believer that when you come across someone or a company that does outstanding work, we should let people know.
